Planning teaching strategies

Planning teaching strategies

Lesson planning can be stressful and difficult. Make a plan for teaching involves a lot of issues to take into account. From cultural, technical resources, pedagogical approaches and some other aspects. But remember this, the harder you work in your plan, the less you will work in the classroom. Planning is a key factor on any field of production.

Today’s teachers, prepare a lesson plan only to hand in a document to the school or institution's principals. Because this is a mandatory task in most academic institutions. At the time of planning, many teachers copy and paste a standard format and make only a few changes just to deliver this important instrument to the authorities. But what exactly is a lesson plan? What things requires the analysis and design of strategies and classroom activities. What are the guiding or approaching ideas that guide the teaching-learning process, what is the role of teachers and students? and how should these procedures be carried out?

The design of teaching strategies through a lesson plan is a unique and creative work. Teachers are called on to do these activities for they are the ones who know the context, the syllabus, the objectives and the most important, the students. No one else can do this task.

Therefore, it is really important to learn how to design strategies for teaching at any level, any purpose or any institution.

The SAMR Method to Using Technology in the Classroom: Let's Innovate

The SAMR Method to Using Technology in the Classroom: Let's Innovate

How many of us have struggled trying to incorporate technology into our classes? How much time have we invested trying to use the appropriate technology either to plan our activities or to get students to use it? As teachers, we are afraid of using ICTs because we think we don’t have the resources or we don’t know how to use them correctly. Truth is, there is no way back… Technology is second nature to our GenX and GenY students, the world today is shaped around technology and educational institutions have incorporated technology in the curricula.

Dr. Puentedura provides us with the SAMR method to implement technology in the classroom because by using technology we are empowering our students to take responsibility for their own learning and promoting independent learners who can successfully navigate in the 21st Century. In this webinar, we will explore the method and tools that help us achieve our objectives as well as to analyze some of the benefits that technology brings to enhance our students’ learning process.
